Extra virgin olive oil from biological agriculture |
|
Since July1998, the date when a suitable form or notification was
sent to the regional pertinent department and to the chosen
certifying body (web site
www.ecocertitalia.it),
the brothers Pino (sales manager) and Bernardo Arcario (production
manager) have decided to convert the farm to the method of organic
agriculture |
 |
 |
(CE Norms 2092/91), to produce
extra-virgin oil according to precise characteristics closely
connected with the oil producing art and to apply agricultural
methods devised to safeguard the environment (pharmacological means
approved by the certifying body to fight particular |

pathologies of the olive tree,
mechanical processing, elimination of the grass and annual pruning). |
|
The other object of the farm plan
concerns planting more olive-trees: in the grove of the village of
Cuttunaru, composed of about 1200 old olive trees, the firm has
gradually increased the number of trees, reaching 1800. The same
farm plan has been attained at Chianu di Monacu where the
olive-trees have become 900 from the original 200. |
 |
 |
Considering that the actual
agricultural soil used for olive growing (Sau) is of about 13
hectares, the future aim of the farm will be centered on
olive-growing. The favoured cultivar is always Bianculidda. |
